The structure of the 18th World Conevention gives the ability to the trainees, apart from their participation in the seminars of the main Convention or the programs of Master Classes, to participate as well at one of the two 3hours SPECIAL seminars, with specific topic that will be taking part every day regardles of their registration to the Convention ( this concerns more the trainees from Greece)

Jean-Yves "ICEMAN" Theriault

71 Fights - 66 Wins - 61 Knock Outs!!!

Jean-Yves Thériault was born on January 15, 1955 in Paquetville, New Brunswick, Canada. He was the fifth of six sons.

Thériault began his martial arts training in 1972 at age 17, achieving blue belt status in Jujutsu before becoming interested in Muay Thai and Kickboxing few years later. He won his first kickboxing competition in 1976 after only six months of training under the direction of John Therien (who now holds Hanshi degree in Ju-Jitsu), and subsequently became Canadian middleweight kickboxing champion two and a half years later.

In 1980 he won the PKA Middleweight World title (Full-contact karate), and held the championship for a record of 15 years.

He has also won world titles in both the ISKA and PKC associations.
He was referred to as “The Iceman,” a nickname given to him by Rodney Batiste during his first title defence, due to his intimidating icy stare and cool demeanour in the ring.

Thériault has a number of high-profile victories, including two wins against future four-time K-1 champion Ernesto Hoost and a draw against the legendary Don “The Dragon” Wilson. He has also fought world champions such as Rob Kaman, Tosca Petridis and Rick Roufus.

Thériault has worked with many groups and charities, such as the Big Brothers, Children’s Wish Foundation, Laucan. He is author of a book on kickboxing techniques and has a series of videos on the science of combat sports. He is the subject of an hour and a half film produced by the National Film Board. He was voted Athlete of the Decade by the Sports Writers Association of New Brunswick. However, the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame still will not induct him into their ranks after several attempts by fans and friends.

Thériault has also become a world-class promoter for the sport of kickboxing.
With the aid of his friend Hanshi John Therien, he is giving new, young fighters the opportunity to realize their dreams in the “Iceman Amateur Kickboxing Circuit”.
Since his retirement on December 1, 1995, (a third-round knockout of Marcus Reid) Thériault still trains five days a week and teaches classes at Therien Ju-Jitsu & Kickboxing Schools.

Thériault obtained his Black Belt in Ju-Jitsu in early 2008.

1992 I.S.K.A. Full Contact Super Middleweight World Champion Retains title after losing to Rob Kaman earlier that year – see fight record for more information. Rob Kaman didn t respect the rules of Full Contact and used his low kick to Theriault during the fight. After advertissement, J Yves Theriault can t continue the fight because he was pain on the legs. The victory of Kaman is not acceptable.

Professional kickboxing record

Thériault fought 76 fights from June 1976 to December 1995. Of those fights, 69 were wins (61 knockouts), 6 were losses, and 1 was a draw. The one draw was with Don “The Dragon” Wilson on December 18, 1984.

Thériault was full-contact World Champion 23 times.






Carlos "THE RONIN" Newton

Carlos Newton was born on August 17, 1976 in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada.

Carlos Newton is considered one of the true pioneers in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts. Known as "The Ronin", he competed worldwide in the biggest MMA organizations including UFC, Pride FC, IFL, K-1, Shooto and most recently W-1.

Carlos Newton is a retired Canadian mixed martial artist and former UFC Welterweight Champion also known his appearance in PRIDE FC.

He Developed a custom style known as Dragon Ball Jiu-Jitsu in deference to the anime series. Newton is a Jiu-Jitsu black belt under his coach Terry Riggs at Warrior MMA Newmarket Canada.

He holds notable wins over Erik Paulson, Pat Miletich, "Pele'" José Landi-Jons and Renzo Gracie, most by way of submission. Newton, always a fan favourite, has dubbed his personal fighting style—an amalgam of traditional Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Wrestling and Boxing as "Dragon Ball Jiu-Jitsu" in tribute to Dragon Ball, a Japanese manga and anime series.

His nickname, "The Ronin", is a reflection of his interest in the martial culture of feudal Japan.

Carlos Newton is an excellent fighter technically. He doesn't dominate his opponents at all times, but he fights very methodicly and is very patient, fighting without fear or anger.

His intelligent, methodical nature is not confined to the octagon. He is well known as a person who investigates the more philosophical realms of martial arts and he uses his intelligence as he studies great fighting literature, such books as The Art of War and The Book of Five Rings.

Newton is known for his love of manga series (Japanese comics) such as Dragon Ball. Having studied judo and wrestling, he calls his fighting style Dragonball Z Jiu-Jitsu. His nickname in PRIDE is "the brown Miyamoto Musashi" after the famous Japanese swordsman.
